Railway Signalling Systems Technician

As a Railway Signalling Systems Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the rail infrastructure functions safely and reliably. You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, inspections, and improvements to signalling systems, helping trains run safely and on time.

No two days are the same: whether it’s early in the morning, late at night, under the sun or in the rain, you and your team are always ready. Your mission is simple: ensure that your assigned section of the railway signalling network remains fault-free. Even if you don’t know everything about signalling yet, that’s no problem — with your strong technical foundation and eagerness to learn, we’ll make sure you get the necessary training and certifications to become an expert in this vital field.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues who will mentor you in all aspects of the profession, from detailed technical knowledge to real-world safety practices.

Your activities include:

  • Performing maintenance and improvement work on rail infrastructure.
  • Carrying out measurements and inspections, particularly in signalling systems.
  • Ensuring the safety of yourself and your team at all times.
  • Continuously improving the quality of work through training, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration.

Who You Are

You are passionate about technology and highly professional, especially when it comes to safety. You bring a hands-on mentality and contagious energy that motivates your team. You are proactive, solution-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality results. Collaboration is second nature to you.

You bring:

  • A completed qualification in Electrical Engineering or Energy Technology (NQF Level 4 or equivalent).
  • Experience in the railway industry (an advantage but not essential).
  • A strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safety.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
  • A valid driver’s license (Code B).
  • A good sense of humour and a positive attitude.
